Entry into France

What are the vaccine requirements to enter France?

Travelers to France must either (1) show proof of vaccination, or (2) present a negative Covid-19 test.

Note: if your last dose of the original vaccine (only shot of Johnson & Johnson, or second shot of either Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech) was administered more than 9 months ago, you must have a booster dose to still be considered fully vaccinated.

What proof of vaccination is required to enter France?

An original, paper US CDC Vaccination Card is accepted at customs and immigration check points. US-issued electronic cards and photographs of an original card are not accepted.

What types of Covid-19 Tests are acceptable for entry into France?

Unvaccinated travelers must show negative test results with either a PCR test taken within 72-hours of departure, or an antigen test taken less than 48 hours before departure.

What forms must I complete for entry into France?

Travelers arriving by air must complete the EU digital Passenger Locator Form (link) before travel. This form is used by authorities for contact-tracing operations in the event a confirmed case of contagious disease is detected as having traveled on a flight.

What are the vaccination requirements within France?

The French COVID pass, Pass Sanitaire, was discontinued on March 31, 2022 in a general easing of Covid restrictions. Likewise, masks are no longer required indoors except on public transport and high-risk facilities such as hospitals and retirement homes.

Return to the United States

What are the requirements to return to the United States?

As of this writing (May 27), the United States requires all travelers (including fully vaccinated US citizens) to present an original printed or electronic negative COVID-19 viral test result taken within one day of departure.

Please note: this requirement is expected to end this summer; however the ending date has not been announced.

Are there testing sites in France?

Yes. Most pharmacies in France have rapid-result walk-in testing available. When you receive your pharmacy-issued test results, be sure your name (as it appears on your passport) and birthdate are clearly visible to ensure your results will be accepted by your airline.

Can I use an at-home Covid test for return to the United States?

Possibly… Some at-home testing kits are acceptable for return travel to the United States. To validate your test, check the packaging or the manufacturer’s website to see if they offer a 24/7 video-call proctor service.

Your proctor will guide you through self-administering the test in your hotel room, validate your results, then issue a certificate via email that will be accepted by your US-bound airline.

We recommend using this kit by eMed. These tests should be fully reimbursed, and in all cases at least partially reimbursed, depending on your insurance provider.

General FAQs

Where is the wedding?‘

Our wedding venue is Château Plombis, located in the Quercy region in the Southwest of France. The chateau is located in the beautiful medieval commune of Castelsagrat, about halfway between the cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse. For more information see the Travel FAQs below, or visit our getting there or where to stay guides to plan your trip!

What is the recommended wedding attire?

Guests are encouraged to wear summer formal (a.k.a., semi-formal or festive-formal). When selecting your footwear, please consider that the ceremony and reception are outdoors on the chateau lawn and an adjacent meadow.

In 2020, the average June daytime temperature in Castelsagrat was in the 70ºs and low 80ºs.

Are children welcome at the wedding?

To allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we have chosen to make our special day adults only. We thank you for your understanding.

In light of COVID-19, what precautions are being taken to ensure a safe celebration?

Our ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner will be held outdoors (weather permitting).

Additionally, France, like most of the European Union, requires all foreign travelers to be fully vaccinated to enter the country, therefore all of our guests will be required to be fully immunized to attend. For more information see the Vaccination FAQs below.

Travel FAQs

How do you recommend getting to Castelsagrat?

That depends on your travel preferences, and whether you’re more comfortable taking public transport or driving yourselves. The next two FAQ’s explain in more detail…

How do we attend the wedding using public transport?

We recommend taking high-speed rail from either Paris or Bordeaux to the city of Agen, where there are numerous hotels within walking distance of the train station. We will provide a shuttle from the Citotel Stim'otel (hotel) in Agen to the venue on the wedding day. For more details please visit our getting there and where to stay guides.

How do we attend the wedding avoiding public transport?

If you wish to avoid public transport, our recommendation is to fly into either Bordeaux or Toulouse, then drive to your accommodations in/near Castelsagrat. For more details visit our getting there and where to stay guides.

Where do you recommend staying for the wedding?

If you prefer to stay in a traditional hotel, there are numerous options in the city of Agen, about 30 minutes drive from our venue, or Montauban about 40 minutes away.

If you are open to a more local experience the area is littered with charming boutique hotels, chambes d’hores (bed and breakfasts) and gites (vacation rentals).
